Jess Chan is a Printed Textile Designer based in South London, fascinated with colour and all things pattern. After graduating from her Masters in Textile Design at Chelsea College of Art in 2011, Jess went on to freelance within Interior, Fashion & Costume as a printer, dyer and colourist. She has also taught short courses at Central Saint Martins.
Jess' Textiles are inspired by botanical nature and architectural patterns, with colour playing an important role within the design process. Her designs are based on mark making and intertwining texture into the print process. Her research into Natural dyes has led to an Artist Residency in Oaxaca, Mexico.
Jess' portfolio ranges from creating bundle dyed fabric, using natural dyes for Designer Christopher Raeburn to bespoke wedding invitations.
Jess currently works as a Dye Technician at Wimbledon College of Art.
